On January 13, the Police Public Relations Branch (PPRB) organised a media sharing session to enhance the professional knowledge of media industry and media handling skills of Force Media Liaison Cadre (FMLC) members. More than 30 FMLC members attended the sharing session conducted by two experienced journalists, namely Chief News Editor of Oriental Press Group Limited Ms Kong King-ying and News Editor of i-CABLE News Limited Mr Lui Tze-lok.

The two speakers introduced to the attendees the duties of news editors and shared their views on on-site work of reporters and other challenges in reporting. Meanwhile, Senior Superintendent (Media Liaison and Communication) of PPRB Leung Chung-man shared with the speakers the latest arrangements to facilitate press activities at scene so as to improve the mutual understanding between police officers and the media. FMLC members also took the opportunity to exchange views with the media representatives and discuss ways to enhance cooperation.

The sharing session enabled officers to gain a better understanding about the difficulties encountered by reporters, the media ecology and policing challenges, as well as the Force’s media strategies, thereby strengthening their professional knowledge and capability and facilitating their cooperation with the media.
