On February 8, the Regional Crime Prevention Office of Hong Kong Island (RCPO HKI) held a seminar entitled “Engaging Students in Crime Prevention” for the Federation of Parent-Teacher Associations (FPTA) of Hong Kong Island. Attended by the chairpersons, vice-chairpersons and members of the FPTA of various districts, the seminar covered the latest crime trend, the modus operandi of scams and the prevention methods.

Regional Crime Prevention Officer of HKI, through the FPTA, encouraged secondary students studying on Hong Kong Island to take part in a competition to produce a 90-second crime prevention video. The competition commenced in March to raise students’ awareness against crimes such as deception and cybercrime, so that they would not breach the law inadvertently or fall victim to crime. The winning videos would be used to promote crime prevention among members of the public.
