Railway District (RAILDIST), in collaboration with the Inter-departmental Counter Terrorism Unit and the Fire Services Department, conducted a train-the-trainer workshop on counter-terrorism for 32 operations trainers and corporate security managers of the MTR Corporation Limited (MTRC) on March 11.

The workshop covered global terrorist threat and common attack tactics targeting railway systems, strategies for handling suspicious objects and uncooperative persons as well as skills for responding to emergency incidents.

The workshop enabled the MTRC trainers to have a better understanding of the potential terrorist threat faced by the Hong Kong railway system. They will further disseminate the message to MTRC frontline staff during internal refresher training courses, so as to enhance their colleagues’ knowledge of handling suspicious objects and uncooperative persons, as well as responsiveness to terrorist attack in the railway system. The workshop will be conducted biannually to provide the latest information and strengthen the partnership between the Force and the MTRC in ensuring the safety of the railway system in Hong Kong.
