Chairperson of the Animal Watchers Programme Central Advisory Board (AWP CAB) cum Assistant Commissioner Kwan Chui-ching, Vice-chairperson of the CAB cum Chief Superintendent Yau Siu-kei and seven CAB members visited the Police Dog Unit Headquarters (PDU HQ) in Sha Ling on June 22. The visit aimed at enhancing the CAB members’ understanding of the training, duties and daily life of police dogs.

The CAB members visited the training facilities, medical centre, delivery room, hydrotherapy pool and kennels of the PDU HQ. PDU also arranged for the CAB members to meet with the “AWP Buddies”. The buddies are police dogs named by CAB members and they are expected to serve as patrol dogs in February 2022 after undergoing training. The CAB members were delighted to witness the growth of the buddies and wished that they could learn well to serve the community in future.

To support the AWP Plank Challenge, CAB Chairperson and Vice-chairperson took up the challenge with CAB members to perform plank poses with the AWP Spokesdog “Sunny” and “Zander” and other police dogs.
