On the afternoon of May 29, a volunteer from a non-governmental organisation (NGO) reported to the Police that a dog was suspected to be beaten brutally by its adopter, causing one of its teeth to fall out.

Officers of Patrol Sub-unit of Mong Kok District (MKDIST) swiftly arrived at the scene to ensure the safety of the dog and immediately notified officers of District Investigation Team 1 (DIT 1) for investigation. After seeking more information from the informant and the flat owner, DIT officers believed that the flat owner’s son was the suspect. The staff of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Hong Kong) examined the dog’s health, while DIT officers secured evidence and arrested the suspect in the evening on the same day.

The NGO later wrote a complimentary letter to the Force to express appreciation for the professionalism of the officers. This case reflects the Force’s dedication to fighting against all acts of animal cruelty.

MKDIST officers spare no effort in detecting the animal cruelty case.
