Following the training workshops for frontline detectives in May, the Crime Wing Headquarters held two “Detective Essence” training workshops on the topic of deception for frontline Detective Chief Inspectors and Superintendents on July 19 and 22.


During the workshops, Assistant Commissioner (Crime) Yip Wan-lung explained the current crime trends and reminded frontline supervisory officers to have the right mindset in response to current situation and shoulder supervisory responsibilities. He pointed out that officers must have a good understanding of the latest crime trends and keep abreast of times in terms of investigative skills, knowledge as well as thinking skills.


The workshops also invited Chief Superintendent of the Cyber Security and Technology Crime Bureau, Senior Superintendent and Superintendent of the Financial Intelligence and Investigation Bureau as guest speakers to explain the key elements of handling cases of deception, money laundering and technology crime. The speakers also highlighted cases that require supervising officers’ attention, key focuses of resources management and supervisory responsibilities. Participants actively raised questions and interacted with the speakers through the use of an application during the workshops.
