This August, the Junior Police Call (JPC) and the School of Professional and Continuing Education of the University of Hong Kong co-organised the third “Foundation Certificate in eSports Science”. The course, which is equivalent to Level Two of the Qualifications Framework, covered the history and development of e-sports and event planning, etc. In addition, trainees were provided with placement opportunities to put the acquired knowledge into practice. This year, 13 JPC members and seven Senior Police Call members participated in the course, showing that e-sports is not limited by age and can promote inter-generational harmony.

In February 2018, the Police Public Relations Branch launched a pilot e-sports programme for JPC members with the aim of using e-sports as a platform for enhancing communication with the youth, developing trainees’ leadership, management and communication skills as well as nurturing them to become young leaders and crime-fighting partners.
