GCA Presentation Ceremony

Forty citizens who helped the Police fight crime were commended at the Good Citizen Award (GCA) Presentation Ceremony 2021 (Phase I) at the Police Headquarters on August 14. The awardees assisted the Police in detecting dozens of cases related to fraud, burglary, animal abuse and wounding while some of them contributed to saving lives.

The GCA is organised by the Police Public Relations Branch, sponsored by the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce, and supported by the Fight Crime Committee. The GCA ceremony injected three new ideas this time: the adoption of the “Anti-deception” theme, the launch of the “Good Corporate Award” and the debut of the Force’s anti-scam mascot, “The Little Grape”. At the ceremony, the Force invited artiste Mr Woo Fung to perform with “The Little Grape” and broadcast the promotional videos featuring some of the awardees.

Good Citizen Alliance

The GCA this year introduced a new concept of “Good Citizen Alliance”, which is formed by four superheroes in outfits of different colours. Each colour represent a unique trait of good citizens: purple for wisdom; green for activeness; red for alertness and pink for calmness. The concept symbolises the concerted efforts of good citizens in fighting crimes, helping each other, and promoting righteousness in society.

Good Corporate Award

The “Good Corporate Award” was introduced this year to commend corporates which have been proactively assisting the Police in the prevention and investigation of scams. The Force also encourages corporates to provide training for their employees to enhance their capacities to guard against fraud, so that reports and interceptions on fraud can be made earlier at the corporate level.
