With a view to strengthening the investigative capability of officers in handling cases involving child and mentally incapacitated witnesses, and enhancing the cooperation between various stakeholders, the Regional Child Abuse Investigation Unit of Kowloon West (KW) hosted a “Child Abuse Investigation Workshop” on August 9 at the Police Officers’ Club for KW officers who are qualified to conduct video-recorded interviews with child and mentally incapacitated witnesses.

Police Clinical Psychologists, social workers of the Family and Child Protective Services Units of the Social Welfare Department, Associate Consultant of the Department of Paediatrics of the Prince of Wales Hospital and Senior Public Prosecutor of the Department of Justice were invited to share case studies and explained legislation to enhance officers’ professional knowledge of child abuse cases.

Regional Commander of KW Rupert Dover thanked the guests for their sharing, and showed his appreciation to officers for their continued support and dedication to child protection.
