The Commercial Crime Bureau (CCB) is dedicated to combating deception. It has partnered with the Consumer Council to combat scams concerning plumbing services and conducted investigations on suspicious fraudulent cases referred by the Consumer Council. In August, CCB officers successfully arrested two plumbers after conducted thorough investigations and intelligence analysis.
In addition, CCB Superintendent Chan Wai-kei led Chief Inspector Or Wing-yan and Senior Inspector Ng Chun-yiu to deliver two sharing sessions on investment frauds to approximately 100 frontline staff of the Consumer Council at the Headquarters of the Consumer Council in mid-August. The sessions aimed to explain common modus operandi of investment frauds, so that the staff could identify and refer relevant cases to the Force for follow-up actions in a more effective and timely manner.
The Force will also collaborate with the Consumer Council to provide the latest news and information regarding anti-deception in the Consumer Council’s monthly publication “CHOICE Magazine” and on its website, and publicise the telephone hotline of the Anti-Deception Coordination Centre to the public.
