On October 12 and November 10, the Police Public Engagement Office of the Major Incidents Bureau conducted the Public Events Engagement Course for officers from Regional Public Engagement Offices, Police Community Relations Offices and Event Management Offices, in order to enhance their knowledge of the latest socio-political dynamics and political groups.


Officers from different police units were invited as guest lecturers and a workshop was held to strengthen officers’ ability to apply technology on intelligence gathering of public events. Former Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury Professor Chan Ka-keung was invited to share his views on the roles of Hong Kong and the Police Force amid the development of the country. Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Sing Tao Magazine Group Limited Ms Lee Sze-wah was also invited to explain how the present media environment may affect policing.


At the closing ceremony, Assistant Commissioner (Operations) Chan Joon-sun presented certificates to the participants and shared his experiences on handling public events. He encouraged officers to get themselves well equipped for meeting future policing challenges.
