On October 31, officers of the Inshore Patrol Sub-unit 1 of Marine East Division (IPSU 1 MEDIV) received an emergency request for police assistance from a citizen who felt unwell while she was canoeing off the east of Tung Lung Island.

Divisional Fast Patrol Craft and Medium Patrol Launch were deployed to the scene rapidly. After collecting basic information, Marine Police vessels immediately conducted a sweeping to search for the citizen in the rough sea as the weather condition that day was bad with strong wind. Later, the officers of MEDIV located the citizen in a conscious state but she was unable to continue canoeing due to extreme exhaustion. Finally, the officers rescued her onboard a police vessel and conveyed her to the base of MEDIV in Sai Kung.

Later, the citizen wrote an appreciation letter to the Force, praising the officers of IPSU 1 MEDIV for their professionalism. The rescue operation was completed swiftly, thus protecting the citizen’s life and property as well as promoting a positive image of the Force. Marine Police officers will continue to serve citizens with dedication and professionalism.
