The Police Officers’ Club (POC) was demolished in 2015 to facilitate the construction of the MTR Shatin to Central Link. It was rebuilt in situ and reopened this year. After the reconstruction, the POC is equipped with a wide range of facilities where Force members and their families can enjoy sports activities and spend their leisure time. It also provides an ideal venue for holding events such as seminars, meetings, exchange programmes, exhibitions and training activities.

To celebrate the reopening of POC, the Social Amenities Council invited Commissioner Siu Chak-yee, Honorary President of Police Band Mr Richard Tang, Director of Highways Mr Jimmy Chan, Capital Works Director of MTR Corporation Limited Mr Roger Bayliss, Director of Architectural Services Ms Winnie Ho, Director of Electrical and Mechanical Services Mr Pang Yiu-hung and Managing Director of Dragages Hong Kong Limited Mr Wes Jones to officiate at the grand reopening of POC on November 18.

There were many highlights of the ceremony. A series of nostalgic photos of the former POC was displayed on the LED wall prior to the ceremony, while a video showing the lights-off ceremony of the former POC was played when the ceremony started. After the piper led the officiating guests to the venue, a video was shown to introduce the evolution and the new face of POC to the guests. The ceremony also featured the unveiling of the commemorative plaque, a martial arts performance as well as dragon and lion dances. After the ceremony, officers of the Personnel Services and Staff Relations Branch guided the guests to tour POC.
