To promote a culture of financial prudence in the Force, the Integrity Audit Action Group (IAAG) of the Complaints and Internal Investigations Branch (C&IIB) launched the Financial Screening Scheme in the third quarter of 2021, taking officers’ credit reports as a reference to evaluate their financial status. In this connection, IAAG organised a seminar and invited representatives of a credit reference agency to explain information on credit reports to officers at the Police Headquarters on November 26. The seminar was also broadcast live to the Police Sports and Recreation Club.

Chief Superintendent of C&IIB Au Yeung Mun-yee gave an opening address, and introduced the Financial Screening Scheme and the newly launched Special Credit Programme, a one-stop platform with credit facilities information to provide support for officers in need.

Representatives of the credit reference agency explained information and details of credit reports, as well as factors which may affect personal credit ratings, and emphasised the importance of maintaining a healthy credit rating in personal financial management. Chief Inspector of Staff Relations Group Leung Chun-chung and Force Welfare Officer Cheng Po-yuk also shared information on financial prudence and the Force’s support measures for assisting officers with financial needs.

Around 200 officers attended the seminar and they were proactive in exchanging views with the speakers. Through the seminar, the participants gained a better understanding on how to develop good financial habits and maintain a healthy financial status. Highlights of the seminar will be available on the Force’s internal video platform “P-TV”.
