Given the severity of the COVID-19 situation in Hong Kong, Commissioner Siu Chak-yee delivered a video message to express the Force Management’s heartfelt gratitude to all Force members, especially frontline officers who have remained steadfast in performing anti-epidemic duties and protecting citizens. The Force has all along supported the government’s anti-epidemic measures and joined hands with other disciplined services to assist medical staff in anti-epidemic work.

The Force Management has the responsibility to ensure officers’ safety during the course of their duties. Support Wing and different formations will ensure the supply of sufficient protective clothing and anti-epidemic supplies to lower officers’ risk of contracting the virus. The Force is also sourcing rapid test kits through different channels for distribution to frontline officers based on the level of their risk exposure. The Force will continue to arrange testing stations at different police districts for colleagues to undergo virus testing.

Operations Wing is in close contact with different regions to take note of the deployment of frontline officers and work arrangements, as well as operational guidelines and contingency plans. The Force also endeavours to provide a safe working environment for officers to lower the risk of infection. In addition, the Force mobilises formations such as the Hong Kong Police College and the Complaints Against Police Office to assist in frontline anti-epidemic work.

Regarding the arrangements for anti-epidemic work, the Force Management will review the situation daily. Personnel Wing will also collect colleagues’ views through different channels to facilitate effective internal communication and the Force Management will seriously consider their views.

The Commissioner and the Force Management pay tribute to all colleagues for standing fast at their posts, fighting the virus and maintaining law and order with dedication. With the support of the Central Government, as long as all Force members stand united and uphold the Force’s spirit of “Serving Hong Kong with Honour, Duty and Loyalty” to fight the virus with the Hong Kong Government, we will overcome the epidemic and safeguard Hong Kong.
