At the invitation of the Counter Terrorism Intelligence Cadre (CTIC), Dr Jolene Jerard, Adjunct Senior Fellow at the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, conducted a counter-terrorism (CT) online seminar on the topic of “Regional Terrorist Trends and Developments in Southeast Asia” on January 28.  


Dr Jerard is a specialist on international terrorism and terrorist and extremist groups in Asia, possessing extensive experience of field research in terrorism-afflicted regions such as Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Somalia and the southern Philippines.


In the seminar, she gave a detailed analysis on the latest terrorism threats in Southeast Asia, highlighting how regional terrorist groups are changing their modes of operation and attempting to expand despite ongoing CT efforts exerted by law enforcement agencies in different regions.


The seminar attracted over 90 officers from member units of CTIC, as well as other member departments of the Inter-departmental Counter Terrorism Unit. CTIC will continue to provide training for Force members to enhance their CT awareness, knowledge and capability.
