To support the government’s anti-epidemic work, starting from February 25, the press conferences and media briefings hosted by the Newsroom and the Social Media Communication (SMC) Division of the Police Public Relations Branch (PPRB) have been conducted via video conferencing rather than on-site in order to reduce the risk of crowd gatherings.

Apart from live broadcasting case briefings on the Force’s social media platforms, the SMC Division has promptly enhanced the system infrastructure and utilised live streaming broadcasting technology with online conferencing tools to ensure online press conferences can be conducted smoothly. Under the coordination of the Newsroom, media representatives are invited to participate, and reporters are given chances to raise questions in real time as in an on-site press conference.

As a bridge between the Force and the media, PPRB will continue to fulfil its duties during the epidemic, and will assist different formations to release the latest information and disseminate anti-crime messages to members of the public in a timely manner while minimising the risk of infection in the community.
