From February 16 to 18, the Innovation and Technology Advisory Group (ITAG) of the INTERPOL held a virtual annual meeting on the themes of “Future of Policing” and “INTERPOL 2030”. Around 100 representatives from more than 50 member jurisdictions attended the meeting and exchanged the latest development of innovative technology. Representatives of the Hong Kong Police Force (HKPF), including Senior Superintendent Dr Hui Chun-wai, Superintendent Ho Yiu-cheung, Senior Inspector Wong Chung-yin and Inspector Ng Yau-wai from the Innovation and Solution Lab (ISLAB) of the Information Systems Wing, were invited to the meeting.


Senior Superintendent Dr Hui Chun-wai introduced the objectives of ISLAB to the representatives of the member jurisdictions, which aim to make policing services more accessible to the public by using digital technologies and enhance internal procedures by adopting technologies, as well as his views on the trends of future technological development. He also talked about the challenges faced by the HKPF when applying innovative technology and the practical solutions.


Superintendent (Digital Transformation and Support) Ho Yiu-cheung has been re-appointed as the Regional Representative of Asia and Middle East of ITAG. He is responsible for liaising with other member jurisdictions in the region and gathering their opinions, so that the ITAG can better understand the challenges in innovative technology application in some of the member jurisdictions. He also presented the developmental framework of innovation and technology in the HKPF and the future strategic directions of ISLAB, demonstrating the determination and capability of the HKPF in meeting the digital policing age with innovative solutions. During the meeting, member jurisdictions exchanged their recent developments and pledged to further develop the Global Knowledge Hub of the INTERPOL.
