In a recent media interview, Commissioner Siu Chak-yee said that the Force had made every effort in fighting the epidemic and had launched Operation PINETOWER as early as in January 2020 with relevant departments to conduct patrol in districts where crowds commonly gather with an aim to appeal to the public to maintain appropriate social distance and to keep the environment clean. During the operation, officers also remind members of the public to comply with the anti-epidemic regulations, e.g. mask-wearing requirement and the prohibition on group gatherings in public places. The Force will continue to strive to reduce the risk of the spread of virus in the community through a “two-pronged” approach by proactive promotion and education, and stringent law enforcement.

While focusing on the anti-epidemic work, the Force has never ceased to safeguarding law and order in Hong Kong. With the commitment to protect the lives and property of the public, officers put in diligent effort under the epidemic to discharge duties, conduct anti-crime patrol and combat criminal activities.
