Quick Reaction Force of the New Territories North Region organised a rural functional training course for Force members with relevant departments and organisations in the fourth quarter of 2021. The course covered topics such as mountaineering, use of map and compass, mountain search and rescue, use of rescue equipment, search of missing persons and properties, as well as professional knowledge on illegal felling of incense trees and Buddhist pines, etc. Officers were trained to safely and effectively discharge frontline mountain search and rescue duties to expedite the professional development in this regard as well as to improve service quality.


Upon completion of the course, trainees were awarded “Level 1 Mountain Craft Training Certificate” by China Hong Kong Mountaineering Climbing Union. Officers who joined the course expressed that the training content was rich and professional with balanced emphasis on theory and practicality. In addition to acquiring mountaineering knowledge and techniques, trainees' confidence in performing search and rescue duty were also boosted.
