During the severe epidemic, many Force officers have developed long-term symptoms (commonly called “long COVID”) after contracting COVID-19. In view of this, the Personnel Services and Staff Relations Branch (PS&SR Branch) has sought cooperation of the Hong Kong Alumni Association of the Southern Medical University and the Birney’s Corps Volunteers which comprises incumbent and retired Police officers. Nearly 50 volunteer Chinese medicine practitioners, pharmacists and volunteers were recruited within a short time. On April 20, free Chinese medication consultation and Chinese medicine granules were provided to staff with “long COVID” symptoms at the Police Headquarters, benefitting nearly 400 colleagues. The volunteers joined hands to provide officers with Chinese medicine services, demonstrating their support to members of the Force.
