Eastern District (EDIST) organised an online sharing session on anti-deception on April 8 to enhance public awareness of online deception. Vice Chairman of Hong Kong Youth Association, Ms April Mon, and Adjunct Professor of the University of Hong Kong, Mr Wong Yin-shun, were invited as guest speakers. The sharing session was attended by over 50 participants, including representatives of the District Council, District Fight Crime Committee (Eastern District), Area Committees, clansmen associations and schools in the district. Officers of District Intelligence Section of EDIST and the guest speakers elaborated on the modus operandi of the fraudsters, shared anti-deception knowledge, relevant legal proceedings and real cases, as well as interacting with the participants.
The participants showed positive response and considered that the contents and case sharing in the session helped enhancing their awareness of anti-deception. They would make concerted efforts with the Force to combat deception by conveying the anti-deception messages to their relatives and friends.
