With the epidemic subsiding, the “Music Touch” programme has resumed. The Hong Kong Police Band visited Ning Po No.2 College in partnership with the Police Community Relations Office (PCRO) of Sau Mau Ping District on May 23. In addition to performing an array of music pieces to around 330 students and teachers and introducing its history and operation, the Police Band consciously selected from its repertoire a series of famous Chinese tunes to enhance the audience’s recognition of the country and their national identity. These masterpieces included You and Me, the theme song of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, and My Motherland and I, a song familiar to everyone in the Mainland.

The “Music Touch” programme has been launched since 2016. The Police Band has partnered with PCROs of different Districts to arrange visits to over 70 primary, secondary and special schools, reaching out to approximately 30 000 students and teachers. Following a pause of “Music Touch” due to the severe pandemic, the Police Band has now resumed the programme, hoping to continue nurturing youngsters with positive values and deepening their appreciation for different music genres.
