Marine Region (MAR) and the Hong Kong Maritime Museum (HKMM) have worked closely together over the past years to promote the history of maritime law enforcement on the waters of Hong Kong. HKMM is holding an exhibition which details the role played by the maritime sector in the development of post-war Hong Kong. The Marine Police Officers’ Mess has put on loan some precious items from its collection for HKMM to display. They include the former Police Vessel 70 moored in the outdoor space by Pier 9 in Central. Displayed together with the vessel is a memorial plaque which commemorates three officers, namely Chief Inspector (Posthumous) Lam Yuen-yee, Station Sergeant Put Yim-chiu and Police Constable Chan Kun-pun, who lost their lives while interdicting marine smuggling activity. On June 27, Regional Commander of MAR David Jordan and officers of MAR held a memorial plaque showing for the families of the commemorated officers.
