The annual Display of the Mace Ceremony was held at the Police College on June 21 in memory of the late Sir Shiu-kin Tang. Commissioner Siu Chak-yee officiated at the ceremony with Sir Shiu-kin’s family members, including his son, Mr Richard Tang and his daughter Ms Yvonne Tang.

In his speech, the Commissioner recalled Sir Shiu-kin’s generosity in charity donations and expressed gratitude to Sir Shiu-kin’s family for their continuous support to the Force. The ceremony started with two silver maces being placed on a traditional stack of drums. A minute of silence was followed by a selection of music performed by the Police Band. The Commissioner presented an audio CD to Mr Richard Tang to thank him for his full support to the Force’s charity concert.

The two maces, which were donated by Sir Shiu-kin’s family as a symbol of their close relationship with the Force, are paraded with the Police Band at major official functions of the Force and the Government.
