Kwai Tsing District (KWTDIST) has launched Project New Dawn since 2011. The officers are committed to collaborating with non-government organisations (NGOs) and other government departments to identify vulnerable groups in the district and provide multi-agency support to those in need for building a more harmonious community. Their service targets comprise mainly suspected mentally disordered persons and those with suicidal tendency.

To widen the frontline officers’ perspective and their capability in handling cases involving these two groups of people, KWTDIST organised a series of seminars in June 2022. Psychiatrists and nurses from Kwai Chung Hospital were invited to share their professional knowledge and experience with over 100 officers. In addition to facilitating the long-term working partnership between KWTDIST and Kwai Chung Hospital and promoting community engagement, the seminars also strengthened frontline officers’ skills and knowledge in handling such cases to support those in need more effectively.
