To promote the use of information and communications technology, as well as enhancing members’ knowledge about amateur radio, the Police Information and Communications Technology Society (HKPICTS) organised an amateur radio course attended by 19 members between August and October 2022.

The 12-session course covered both theory and practice, including analyses on electromagnetic fields, antenna circuits, AC and DC circuits, receivers, transmitters and various radio devices, relevant Hong Kong laws and international regulations, code of practice and exam preparation. Upon completion of the course, students may participate in the amateur radio license examination organised by the Office of the Communications Authority (OFCA). After passing the examination, they can legally use all amateur shortwave frequencies to call radio stations around the world, and apply to OFCA for an amateur radio station.

HKPICTS will keep organising courses and activities related to information and communications technology. If you are interested, please keep tuned to the Force NoticeBoard.
