Tseung Kwan O District (TKODIST) and the Police Rugby Football Club (PRFC), together with Operation Breakthrough, promoted rugby football among primary and secondary schools in mid-August to strengthen the Force’s communication with teenagers and establish mutual trust.

PRFC, TKODIST and Sai Kung Fight Crime Committee, together with the Hong Kong Rugby Union, organised the Operation Breakthrough Rugby Summer Course joined by more than 20 secondary students. Over 200 primary school students also participated in the two “Non-collision Rugby Experience Courses” held by TKODIST and PRFC at a primary school in the district. PRFC members volunteered their off time to coach the students in small groups. After the training, the students played in friendly matches through which they could understand the importance of teamwork and discipline.

PRFC and TKODIST hope to project the positive image of the Force and maintain close cooperation and connection with the public and other oganisations through promoting rugby football so that the philosophy of Operation Breakthrough, which is to “change lives through sport”, can be implemented.
