To raise public awareness of preventing cruelty to animals and to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (25A), the Animal Watchers Programme (AWP) organises the AWP x 25A Trilogy, with the AWP Colours in 25A Colouring and Drawing Contest (the Contest) as the initial event. AWP held roving exhibitions at four large shopping malls from August to October to promote the Contest, educate the public on animal care through games and distribute souvenirs. In addition, the handlers of AWP Spokesdogs Sunny and Zander and other police dogs, together with their dogs, shared basic canine obedience training tips with the public. The twelve-day event attracted over 10 000 members of the public.
The Contest, with over 1 500 entries received, has come to a successful conclusion. The result will be announced after the selection process and the prizes will be awarded in due course. The remaining events of the AWP x 25A Trilogy are the Animal Care Corner promotion at schools and the BYOP (Bring Your Own Pet) Treasure Hunt. For details, please refer to the AWP webpage.
