Mong Kok District

Patrol Sub-unit 4 of Mong Kok District (PSU 4 MKDIST) received a request for assistance while on patrol on the evening of August 19. A member of the public stated that her elderly father, who was injured and lost, could only say simply over the phone that he was somewhere in Mong Kok, without telling exactly where he was. The informant and her family were very worried as they could not find the parent all along. Sergeant Wong Chun-keung, Police Constable Ma Wai-yip and Leung Hon-pan of PSU 4 MKDIST, on the one hand, comforted the informant and her family and remained in contact with the missing old man to ensure his safety and tried to collect further information regarding his location. On the other hand, a search in the area was started immediately.

By locking the location of the cell signal of his mobile phone, the officers found that the elderly male was near Chak On Estate in Shek Kip Mei. The information was relayed to the Regional Command and Control Centre at once for officers of Sham Shui Po District and Police Tactical Unit to assist in the search. Eventually, the missing old man was found at hillside near Chak On Estate. He was immobile because of a fractured thigh bone. It was lucky that he was not in critical condition, and was taken to the hospital for medical attention immediately.

Subsequently, the informant and her family wrote a thank-you letter to commend the officers for serving the public wholeheartedly. In fact, the Force has always been committed to safeguarding and protecting their life and property. The officers’ proactive professionalism can establish the positive image of the Force and boost public confidence in the Force extensively.
