To enhance the officers’ understanding of social situations, the Police Public Engagement Office (PPEO) of Major Incidents Bureau conducted the 14th Public Events Engagement Course between November 1 and 2 in 2022 for officers from the Regional Public Engagement Offices, Police Community Relations Offices and Event Management Offices.
As a guest speaker, Legislative Council member Mr Tang Fei shared his insights on international relations and his suggestions on promoting communication between the Force and schools. Speakers from PPEO elaborated on the latest socio-political issues and how to utilise new media platforms to grasp the sentiment of local communities at an early stage. Furthermore, an officer from National Security Department was invited to introduce the enforcement guidelines of National Security Law and court rulings of relevant cases. A clinical psychologist from Psychological Services Group shared techniques on emotion management and effective communication. The course enhanced participants’ understanding of the current political situation and increased their preparedness for upcoming policing challenges.
