Tsuen Wan District (TWDIST) and the Emergency Unit of New Territories South (EU NTS), together with the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, jointly conducted an exercise codenamed STORMCALL and WESTWOOD on January 5 to enhance the coordination, collaboration and communication among various units in responding to serious crime. Members of TWDIST Senior Police Call participated in the exercise as citizens affected in the incident for them to understand the responding guideline “Run, Hide, Report”. Representatives from District Fight Crime Committee (Tsuen Wan District) and officers from the Home Affairs Department joined the exercise as observers.

The exercise simulated a scenario in which an armed robbery occurred and a gang of robbers were making their getaway in a vehicle. EU NTS reacted swiftly and mounted Operation EXIGENT to track the fleeing vehicle, locate the culprits’ hideout tactically, control the scene promptly and recover the stolen goods. Meanwhile, officers of TWDIST dealt with the affected citizens, cordoned off the scene and set up a command post. The exercise facilitated frontline officers to enchance their capabilities in tackling serious crime.
