The Police Community Relations Office (PCRO) of Mong Kok District (MKDIST), Police Negotiation Cadre (PNC) and Inter-departmental Counter Terrorism Unit (ICTU) jointly organised the seminar “Crisis Management: Spot and Report” on January 6. Through the Yau Tsim Mong District School Liaison Committee (YTM DSLC), 43 participants comprising teaching staff and social workers from 19 kindergartens, primary schools and secondary schools in the district were invited to attend the seminar.

Officers of PNC gave a summary of the strategies and listening skills for school crisis negotiation. They shared real cases and preliminary handling methods. Officers of ICTU shared information about school-related counter terrorism, situations of global and local terrorism, and means to identify and handle potential crises, as well as promoting the Safe Community Pledge. Police Community Relations Officer of MKDIST Tsang Kwok-wai recommended a series of activities to revitalise the Junior Police Call School Branch. MKDIST will keep co-operating closely and exchanging views with the school. Moreover, drills will be held jointly with YTM DSLC to enhance the ability of school staff and students in handling and responding to crises.
