The Inter-departmental Counter Terrorism Unit (ICTU), with the support of Mong Kok District (MKDIST), held the opening ceremony of the “Safe Community Mobile Education Truck” at a primary school in the district on February 17, marking the start of a promotional campaign to be held between February and May to promote the message of a safe community. About 350 teachers and students attended the event.

Deputy Commissioner (Operations) Yuen Yuk-kin, Regional Commander of Kowloon West Rupert Dover, District Commander of MKDIST Ng Chi-chung, together with Chairperson Ms Cheung Yee-may and Vice-Chairpersons Ms Chan Shuk-yee and Ms Wong On-mei of Yau Tsim Mong District School Liaison Committee, as well as representatives from member departments of ICTU, jointly officiated at the opening ceremony.

ICTU officers will join hands with officers from various regions and districts between February and May to enhance public awareness of preventing and reporting terrorist activities by engaging the communities and visiting schools through the Mobile Education Truck. ICTU welcomes inquiries from officers of Regions and Districts.

The Mobile Education Truck will enter schools and communities in an interactive and interesting way to promote the message of a safe community. Both sides of the truck are equipped with large display screens for showing public education videos such as “Run, Hide, Report” and “Spot and Report”. The interior of the truck features three mini-games that educate participants to identify suspicious and dangerous items. There is also an instant photo booth for participants to capture the moments.
