The Dowman Road Race was held at Pak Tam Chung, Sai Kung on February 4. Nearly 2 600 regular, auxiliary, civilian staff members, retired officers and their family members, as well as elite runners from other disciplined services participated in the race, breaking the past record in the number of participants.


To mark the race’s 70th anniversary, Police Athletics Club (PAC) gave commemorative T-shirts to all runners. Those who completed the race within a designated time were awarded a commemorative medal of the 70th anniversary. There were also new categories of “70A Challenge”. All athletes did their very best to achieve the best result. Sergeant Lai Hok-yan and retiree Ms Ng Yeuk-bing set a new record and captured the championship in the category of Men’s Master II and Retired HK Police Members – Women respectively. PTU Headquarters continued to be crowned “The Fastest Team” in the category of Specialist/Training Unit. Yuen Long District and Police College won the championship in the category of Other Formation/Unit and Women’s team respectively. The championship of “70A Challenge (2)” went to Airport Security Unit.


PAC Chairman Dr Law Yuet-wing thanked all volunteers and staff for their support, which enabled the event to be held successfully. PAC’s upcoming event, Police Athletics Championships, will take place at Wan Chai Sports Ground on April 6. Race circular has been posted on Force Noticeboard. Interested officers may contact their Training and Staff Relations Officers / Formation Sports Coordinators for enrollment.
