Assistant Commissioner (Information Systems) Kwan Chui-ching led a six-member delegation to attend the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2023 in Barcelona, Spain between February 27 and March 2, with a view to preparing the Force to build the next generation communication platform to be equipped with audio, videos, pictures and multimedia capabilities by means of 5G and latest technologies. This year’s event covered upcoming and revolutionary digital and communication technologies such as 5G acceleration, Digital Everything and Metaverse.


The delegation took the opportunity to observe the development of innovative technology applications and pioneering technologies. It also attended different sharing sessions by leaders of multinational companies in digital transformation, as well as tech-giant on the future development of cyberspace and associated technologies. The delegates exchanged experience on digital policing with their overseas counterparts, such as the Catalan Police.


MWC is the largest and the most influential annual event in the mobile communication industry, attracting the attendance of global mobile operators, device manufacturers, technology providers and fast-growing startups as well as policymakers from over 200 countries around the world.
