Traffic Branch Headquarters (TBHQ) invited the Chairman of Transport Advisory Committee (TAC) Professor Cheung Yan-leung and a delegation of ten TAC members to visit Traffic Kowloon West (T KW) Operational Base on March 21. Chief Superintendent of Traffic Branch Yau Siu-kei and Superintendent (Law Revision and Projects) Chan Sin introduced to the delegation a variety of traffic-related topics, which included traffic enforcement strategies and their effectiveness, as well as the technology-aided solutions to combat illegal practices. Furthermore, the TAC members also experienced the use of Rapid Oral Fluid Test for drug screening and Screening Breath Test for alcohol detection to understand these effective and efficient tools for identifying drivers under the influence of drugs and alcohol.

T KW officers also displayed the latest police fleet and equipment, as well as demonstrating to the TAC members how the in-Vehicle Average Speed Tracker (iVAST) combined the speed detection and automatic number plate recognition systems into one.

Cheung Yan-leung thanked the Force for its continuous efforts in safeguarding the efficacy of the road network in Hong Kong. He said that the visit enabled the members to gain an insight into how the Force adopted technology and innovation to embrace the challenges in traffic enforcement.
