Marine Region (MAR) held the kick-off ceremony of MAR Anti-Deception 2023 on April 26. It was MAR’s first time employing Cheung Chau’s indigenous flower panel to promote anti-deception messages.Regional Commander of MAR David Jordan, Senior Superintendent (Operations) of MAR Law Ka-hong and District Commander of Marine Port District Clive Walton, together with Chairman of Hong Kong Cheung Chau Bun Festival Committee Mr Yung Chi-ming, Second Vice Chairman of Cheung Chau Rural Committee Mr Wong Fai-man and Chairlady of Cheung Chau Island Women’s Association Ms Lee Kwai-chun, officiated at the ceremony. They encouraged the public to download the “Scameter+” app to reduce the risk of being deceived.
MAR will subsequently organise a series of anti-deception publicity campaigns with local elements on Cheung Chau, Lamma Island and Peng Chau to raise the anti-deception awareness of the residents and visitors of outlying islands by means of various publicity platforms targeting different age groups and walks of life.
