Study programme at PPSUC


A group of 28 officers from the Force attended the 104th study programme offered by the People’s Public Security University of China (PPSUC) between July 3 and 14. The programme was the first post-epidemic course attended by Force officers at PPSUC. Director of Hong Kong Police College (HKPC) Chan Yee-lai went to Beijing with the study group to join the opening ceremony for understanding the members’ studies. She also met and exchanged views with the management of PPSUC.


Senior Superintendent Shiu Wan-yee and Superintendent Soo Wan-lok led 11 chief inspectors and 15 senior inspectors to go to Beijing. The programme covered the latest policing updates in the Mainland, the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA), etc. The course attendees were arranged to tour several national museums and historical landmarks for deepening their sense of nationhood and patriotism. They also had on-site exchange with the public security departments in Beijing and Tianjin to understand digitalisation in public security. Moreover, the study group was arranged to visit Huawei’s Beijing Research Institute to recognise the important role of technology innovation in national development.


Training course at GDPC


Superintendent Lai Siu-wai and Chief Inspector Mui Wing-kwong led a 25-member training group to attend the 30th training course at Guangdong Police College (GDPC) in Guangzhou between July 10 and 15. The course was the first one at GDPC resumed after the epidemic. Senior Superintendent of Police School of Professional Development Chu Ki-kin accompanied the group to meet the staff of GDPC and attended the opening ceremony of the course.


The trainees attended a series of lectures and seminars which deepened their understanding of police training and development in the Mainland, the co-operation mechanism on combating cross-border crimes, as well as the vision and opportunities of the GBA initiative. The training group also visited a local smart police station, the Guangzhou police development exhibition and the marine police base. The group also engaged in discussions with local police officers on topics such as anti-narcotics, anti-deception, technology-driven intelligence-led criminal investigation, crowd management and community policing.


Exchange in Zhuhai


Deputy Director (1) of HKPC Leung Shun led five HKPC staff and 37 participants of the Sergeant and Station Sergeant Promotion Course to visit Zhuhai for exchange between July 6 and 7. Upon arrangement of the Ministry of Public Security and Guangdong Public Security Department, the delegation visited Zhuhai Public Security Bureau and Hi-tech Police Station to exchange views with frontline officers on street management and adoption of technology in policing. The delegation also visited Zhuhai Planning Museum, Xiangzhou district office, Tang Guoan memorial hall, Huitong Village and Jinshan Software Park to learn about the policing and public security management there, as well as understanding the affairs and culture of our nation more deeply.
