Marine Outer Waters District (MOWDIST) held its Open Day cum Senior Police Call (SPC) Honorary Presidents Inauguration Ceremony at Mai Liu Shui Marine Base on July 22. Community stakeholders, youth groups and members of the public were invited to join the event that attracted approximately 1500 attendees.

Acting Regional Commander of Marine (MAR) Ip Che-man and District Commander of MOWDIST Chan Tsz-leung officiated at the ceremony and presented appointment letters to three SPC Honorary Presidents, namely Chairperson of Hong Kong Maritime Culture and Conservation Association Ms Cheng Ching-wa, Chairman of New Territories Cargo Transport Association Limited Mr Ng Sui-lun and Secretary of Castle Peak Sam Chau Mazu Management Association Limited Ms Pang Siu-ping.

In addition to the lion dance, Police Band performance and Chinese dance by SPC members, artiste Maria Cordero was invited to play anti-deception skit with SPC members to promote anti-deception and sea safety messages at the ceremony. The fabulous event also featured performances of the Snare Drum Team of Hong Kong Sea Cadet Corps and the Police Dog Unit, and the sea rescue demonstrated by the Government Flying Service and Small Unmanned Aircraft Team of MAR. There were also demonstration of equipment by the Small Boat Division, game stalls, activities of the Hong Kong Sea Cadet Corps, as well as mini-police uniform, vehicles and small craft for photo taking. The SPC publicity truck and police launch were also available for touring.
