To step up efforts against theft and increase local community’s knowledge about the modus operandi of different types of theft, Wong Tai Sin District (WTSDIST) mounted Operation DARKVALE between June and September, during which Crime units and members of the Police Community Relations Office (PCRO) of WTSDIST combatted and prevented theft by means of an intelligence-led approach comprising law enforcement, prevention and publicity.


During the operation, crime officers detected 106 theft cases, which involved over $1.5 million, with 50 people arrested. Together with members of District Fight Crime Committee (Wong Tai Sin) (DFCC WTS), community leaders and members of Senior Police Call (SPC), officers from District Investigation Teams and PCRO held publicity and educational events in the community to distribute leaflets, provide tips on prevention of theft and conduct anti-theft publicity in focused areas in the District that were prone to theft.


Moreover, WTSDIST officers, together with members of DFCC (WTS) Mr Wong Kam-choi, Mr Wong Yip-kwan and Mr Cheng Man-tak, Chairman of SPC Honorary President Council Mr Kwok Pui-kiu, SPC Honorary President Mr Chan Yiu-tung, Vice Chairman of Junior Police Call (JPC) Honorary President Council Mr Tam Pang-fei and JPC Honorary President Mr Kwong Chi-hong, as well as members of SPC, launched a grand anti-theft publicity drive activity in the District. The publicity truck visited busy areas to play theft prevention videos on the screen of the publicity truck. Anti-theft flyers and souvenirs were distributed to members of the public during the activity.
