The Special Olympics Hong Kong (SOHK), in collaboration with the Hong Kong, China Sports Association for Persons with Intellectual Disability and the seven disciplinary forces, namely the Hong Kong Police Force, Immigration Department, Hong Kong Customs and Excise Department, Correctional Services Department, Fire Services Department, Government Flying Service and Independent Commission Against Corruption, held the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Hong Kong at Sha Tin Sports Ground on September 17 to raise fund for supporting the athletes taking part in the Summer/Winter Games of Special Olympics World and local training.


The traditional Torch Run was held at the kick-off ceremony this year to promote and appeal for active participation in the fundraising campaign. The Secretary for Security Mr Tang Ping-keung officiated at the ceremony to show support to the athletes and officers of the disciplinary forces. Commissioner Siu Chak-yee passed the torch “Flame of Hope” to Chairman of the Police Sports Council Chan Sze-tat to symbolise passing on the spirit of the Special Olympics.
