To enhance frontline officers’ work effectiveness and response capabilities in coping with extreme weather conditions, Tseung Kwan O District joined hands with the Drainage Services Department (DSD), Highways Department (HyD) and Fire Services Department (FSD) to host the symposium on Inter-Departmental Collaboration for Coping with Extreme Weather on October 30. Uniformed and traffic officers of various units in Kowloon East were invited to take part in the symposium.

Representatives of DSD, HyD and FSD shared and discussed previous real cases. For each case, topics such as why the incident happened, whether the scene of incident was suitable for carrying out search and rescue work, as well as the risk factors to be considered in the course of rescue, were deliberated. Moreover, there was an interactive session, during which different scenarios were discussed to effectively boost the frontline officers’ capabilities and confidence in dealing with extreme weather incidents.
