The third annual Digital Forensics Research Workshop (DFRWS) APAC Conference 2023 was run concurrently in Singapore and Hong Kong. Cyber Security and Technology Crime Bureau (CSTCB) co-organised the four-day DFRWS Conference for the first time with the University of Hong Kong (HKU) at the Cyber Range of Police Headquarters between October 17 and 20. Over 20 members from the Force, Customs and Excise Department, Immigration Department, Independent Commission Against Corruption, Securities and Futures Commission, Office of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data and HKU participated in the conference.


Chief Superintendent of CSTCB Cheng Lai-ki highlighted in her opening remarks the Force’s commitment to combatting technology crime and the importance of enhancing the technical capabilities and strengthening the co-operation in the digital forensics domain. During the conference, over 40 scholars from renowned universities and experts from global digital forensic institutions delivered presentations and hosted technical workshops to explore digital forensic research. They also advised on future challenges in digital forensics and cybercrime investigations for areas such as artificial intelligence, metaverse and blockchain technology.
