The Financial Intelligence and Investigation Bureau (FIIB) organised the International Financial Investigation Course (FIC) (English class) between December 4 and 8, 2023, which was attended by 45 participants comprising officers from eight overseas jurisdictions and those from the Customs and Excise Department, Independent Commission Against Corruption, Securities and Futures Commission and other authorities of Hong Kong.

Acting Chief Superintendent (CSP) of FIIB Lui Che-ho welcomed the participants in the opening ceremony, “We are very pleased to see our counterparts from various jurisdictions, as well as our colleagues from Hong Kong, gather here today to demonstrate our continued commitment to work together in the fight against money laundering and terrorist financing.” The speakers of the course included local law enforcement officers, government policy makers, legal experts, financial regulators and bank representatives who lectured on topics such as intelligence exchange, law enforcement, international co-operation, and public-private partnership. The course received positive feedbacks from the participants. Lui Che-ho presented the certificates to the participants at the conclusion of the course.

FIIB is planning to hold the International FIC (Putonghua class) in May 2024. FIC was organised initially in 1988, and the first English class was held in 1991. Throughout the years, over 1 800 participants from overseas and local financial intelligence units, regulatory bodies and law enforcement agencies have attended the courses.
