The Non-executive Chairman of MTR Corporation Limited (MTRC) Dr Auyeung Pak-kuen inspected the passing-out parade for 27 probationary inspectors and 127 recruit police constables at the Police College on February 3.

Dr Auyeung said in his speech that the rule of law and public safety were the cornerstone of a city’s long-term development. He praised the Force as an excellent team sparing no effort in safeguarding national security, maintaining social order, as well as protecting the public. He also pointed out that the Force officers’ professional attitude facilitated Hong Kong being one of the safest and most stable cities in the world.

He highlighted MTRC’s close collaboration with the Force in different areas all along and appreciated the Force’s support to MTRC in ensuring public safety of the railway network and maintaining the order of the stations that facilitated the overall operation running smoothly to benefit railway passengers.

Dr Auyeung encouraged the graduated officers that despite the different challenges they might encounter in various posts in the future, they should uphold the Force’s spirit of “Serving Hong Kong with Honour, Duty and Loyalty”, support their colleagues and exhibit solidarity. Noting the rising public expectations for quality services and the Force’s close connection with people’s daily life, he believed that all the graduated officers would serve the society with professional attitude and care, and keep communicating with the public to gain their support.

He hoped that in this era of rapid changes, the probationary inspectors and recruit police constables would continue equipping and improving themselves to achieve excellence at all times, keep abreast of the times and prepare themselves with capabilities and professional knowledge to face various challenges in the future.
