The Regional Crime Prevention Office of New Territories South (RCPO NTS) held the award presentation ceremony of the “Hugangpiao Jihua”, a plan to protect mainland students and talents in Hong Kong, at the Police Officers’ Club on January 20 to praise the partners for their support of the plan. The ceremony attracted over 200 guests, including more than 100 students and talents from the Mainland. The Director-General of the Police Liaison Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the HKSAR Mr Chen Feng, Commissioner Siu Chak-yee, Regional Commander of NTS Mak Chin-ho and District Commanders in the Region were invited to officiate at the ceremony and present the awards.

The 33 partners were awarded for their efforts in disseminating the latest anti-scam messages among Mainland students and talents in Hong Kong (who are known as “Hong Kong drifters”) and actively helping the Force organise anti-deception booths and talks, post and distribute anti-scam leaflets and broadcast anti-scam digital messages at various locations, benefiting thousands of Hong Kong drifters. To further promote anti-scam messages, RCPO NTS published a range of anti-deception posters printed with simplified characters.

The Commissioner said in his speech that Hong Kong drifters were the new blood for future development of Hong Kong. The Force was responsible for protecting them so that they could integrate into the Hong Kong community. The ceremony encouraged in-depth exchange and collaboration among social sectors to cast a stronger community safety net against deception for safeguarding people around us.

During the sharing session of the event, a student of The Chinese University of Hong Kong cum Anti-deception Ambassador, and the president of Mainland University Student (Hong Kong) Volunteers shared their real life stories in which they encountered scams. They also thanked the Force for organising various anti-deception events continuously.
