Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, is observed by Muslims as a month of fasting every year. At the invitation of the Incorporated Trustees of the Islamic Community Fund of Hong Kong (the Trustees), Deputy Commissioner (National Security) Kan Kai-yan, Regional Commander (RC) of Hong Kong Island Kwok Ka-chuen, RC of Kowloon West Ng Lok-chun, District Commander (DC) of Yau Tsim District Ngai Chi-shung and DC of Wanchai District Liauw Ka-kei attended a Ramadan Iftar dinner on March 19. Other attending guests included government officials, consular representatives and Muslim community leaders.


Chairman of the Trustees Saeed Uddin thanked the Force for its constant dedication to safeguarding Hong Kong and extended best wishes for the city’s lasting racial harmony and inclusion. There has been long-standing bond between the Force and the local Muslim community. Among the some 130 non-ethnic Chinese officers in the Force at present, part of them are Muslims.
