Deputy Commissioner (Management) (DCP MAN) Chan Joon-sun, together with Director of Finance, Administration and Planning Tsang Oi-lin and Police Civil Secretary Lau Wai-wan, met representatives of seven civilian staff associations at a lunch gathering on February 17.
The representatives from Association of Police Translators, Association of Police Communications Officers, Hong Kong Traffic Wardens Union, HKSAR Government Traffic Wardens General Union, Hong Kong Police Force Telecommunications Technical Staff Union, Hong Kong Police Force Model Scale I Staff Association and Hong Kong Police Force Civilian Officers’ Union exchanged views with the Force management on the development of their grades and matters of concern to their grade members.
In his speech, DCP MAN extended his heartfelt gratitude to civilian staff for their unwavering dedication over the past year, and commended them for their valuable contributions regarding their participation in the Kai Tak Sports Park drills as well as various policing work. In view of the challenges brought from fiscal constraints, he firmly believed that the wider use of technological solutions such as AI, Automatic Speech Recognition etc. would help relieve the workload and further improve the working environment of civilian grades. He encouraged civilian staff to embrace the change, be flexible and be creative like a snake in the Year of the Snake. Looking ahead, he hoped that the civilian staff associations would continue to uphold the spirit of “Serving Hong Kong with Honour, Duty and Loyalty”, and jointly maintain Hong Kong’s safety and stability.
