The Cyber Security and Technology Crime Bureau (CSTCB) launched the All-round CyberDefence 2025 campaign in the first quarter of this year, themed CyberDefenders Alliance, to unite government departments, public organisations and enterprises in creating a citywide cybersecurity initiative through synergistic “one plus one is greater than two” collaboration. Centred on “Building a united front to defend cyber security”, the campaign combined online and offline efforts to engage all sectors of society, aiming to enhance public awareness and preparedness against cyber threats.
With the support from the five land Regions, CSTCB collaborated with government mascots to conduct anti-fraud events in various Districts. Over 1 000 souvenirs were distributed. A tram body photography contest was also held concurrently. Three trams and the tram stop on Hennessy Road, Wan Chai were decorated with government mascots for citizens to capture with their cameras.
To amplify educational outreach, CSTCB also partnered with TVB to produce the programme “Cyber Crime in a Glance”. Through a dedicated column in the newspaper, technical anti-fraud knowledge was translated into laymen terms through real-case analyses and expert insights. Additionally, the phishing email campaign was also held with the Hong Kong Internet Registration Corporation Limited to test the staff’s awareness of cyber risks. The initiative attracted 216 organisations and 37 220 participants, marking a 2.6-fold year-on-year increase and setting a record high. The Cyber Security Seminar also facilitated knowledge exchange with 180 industry experts, strengthening the line of defence against cybercrimes.
